Stocking Anarchy Papercraft Mode WIP - UPDATE!

Panties! Panties! Panties!

Well, it's been slow going lately, but I've started with a test build. And... what better place to start on any model? This actually appeared to be the most difficult to build, based on the intricate details of the bow and frills. With a little patience, it turned out pretty nice. 

From the beginning I new this was going to be trouble. I'll edit out  the band (that thin strip of paper) because that's just pointless...

I'm happy with the over all shape. I've simplified a few times already, and I think at this point there is a good balance of contours and edges.

You wouldn't believe the fun I had with this one.I was rushing to test it out, I left a lot of strips behind. I was cutting with scissors not my exacto knife. So, yeah... a little bit sloppy.

Just to give you an idea of what I'm working with here. Ain't he adorbs? Very coquettish! The teal looks good on him, really brings out the silver in his eyes.

Putting on the finishing touches. You can see here I already added the frill. That was fun. 

And Here, We see the finished product! Frills, bow and stripes! If you look closely you can see the thin little band around the waist. Won't be in the finished pattern, though. It was a lot of work, but, I enjoyed it. Really like seeing a model come together. Until next time, Neurons and Neuronettes!

Stocking Anarchy Papercraft WIP

It's slow going, but going none-the-less! Here we see the beginning stages of an un-fold. Fun stuff and a lot of work. A LOT!

The legs are separated into different sections (as are the other parts of the body). This for a couple of reasons. I want to mimic the construction of garage model kits, and make the model more sturdy. By connecting several layers of paper the figure will have more support. Seen here is the first stages of separating the many different pieces that will make up the final segments. What a mess...

And, finally we see the complete unfold. Spread across four sheets of paper, Stocking will stand approximately 7 - 8 inches. This, really takes most of the time. Adjusting tabs, organizing the pieces, laying them out in a some what cohesive manner. I don't get paid enough for this...

The real payoff is seeing the model come together in tangible form. It doesn't look like much now, but, can you imagine this leg in 90lb card, with texture? It would be fantastic! 

Well, that's the update for now, I am really getting excited about this model. Stay tuned for more boys and girls!

A Garnet Papercraft Model!?

Working on one project for too long will give you tunnel vision and become a bit stagnant. I like to stay fresh by messing around with other things between session. I started messing around a bit with a new design and wouldn't you know it, I started making a GARNET model.

 

This was supposed to be just for fun, but, I'm a huge fan of Steven Universe... Soooooooo, I think I'll see this one through. Stay tuned for updates!!!

Looking to finish her up soon!

Her skirt, with a very cool ripple fold effect. Next time, I'm not going to crease it so it has a more natural feel.

But, what's missing? 

Oh, yeah... Legs!

Coming right up!

Just have to finish her boots and then her Scythe.

When finished, Ruby will stand at about 12 inches!
